A Message from the Nova Scotia School Health Coordinator
Welcome
Over the last four years much has been done by the province and its many partners to instill healthy attitudes among students and school communities, including
- the introduction of a provincial school nutrition policy,
- hiring of sports animators,
- new drug education curriculum,
- sport tax credits,
- introduction of a mandatory physical education credit,
- and much more.
Due to the fact that there is so much now happening in schools and because there is such a keen appetite for information from educators and parents, it is crucial to have a world wide web presence.
The HPS website will have a dual focus.
- It will allow for improved internal communications to better coordinate programs and information between key partners by giving regional HPS teams, DOE, HPP and their partners an information portal that would pull together all the programs being offered in an easy-to-access site.
- The site will also provide parents and educators with links and information to promote health in their own schools, communities and homes.
Schools in Nova Scotia are working hard to make school health an important part of everyday life because every kid counts.
